Wood Fence Types Crum Lynne, Pennsylvania

In the quaint town of Crum Lynne, nestled within Pennsylvania's scenic landscape, a unique style of barrier often goes unnoticed yet holds significant importance: the slipboard fence. This agricultural staple, with its simple design and functional nature, is a testament to traditional American pastoral life.

Formed by horizontal planks that slide effortlessly into vertical posts without the need for hardware or nails, these fences embody rustic charm with remarkable practicality. The absence of fixed attachments allows for rapid dismantlement or reconfiguration, catering to the diverse needs of farmers who may require varying enclosure sizes throughout seasonal cycles.

Despite their utilitarian purpose, slipboard fences contribute more than just boundary-setting roles in rural environments. They stand as markers of history and craftsmanship; every plank and post whispers tales of generational land stewardship and the evolution of farming practices over centuries.

Though somewhat overshadowed by modern fencing solutions like vinyl or electric barriers, slipboard fences remain prominent in areas where tradition prevails over trend. In Crum Lynne specifically, they serve not only as physical dividers but also as symbols that tie the community to its agrarian roots—roots that are deeply entrenched in the soil of Pennsylvania's rich farmland.

As urban sprawl continues to encroach upon rural spaces, one can hope that these iconic structures will be preserved. Their presence offers a visual reminder of simpler times when boundaries were defined not by laws or regulations but by mutual respect among neighbors and an understanding of shared resources.

In conclusion, while slipboard fences may seem like mere relics from a bygone era to some, for residents of Crum Lynne and similar locales across America they represent something far greater. These unassuming wooden guardians stand guard over memories and traditions worth cherishing—a quiet legacy etched into the countryside they have so elegantly demarcated for generations.

Angi provided me with several contractors, I received estimates but chose Philz Landscaping (even after coming in higher) because he satisfied with his estimate and start date our fervent desire to complete the project before winter set in. Alex, Javier set the example of professionalism in setting up the area to remove fencing and gate, installed vinyl fence with double gate (assisted by Carlos), removed all debris, left my yard spotless and we are extremely satisfied with the new fence and gate. Questions we had were answered (Helena, Phil) promptly and Alex, Javier went above and beyond ensuring my wife’s concerns were taken care of; I want again to Thank the team at Philz Landscaping and recommend highly to perform your project.

Had Phil and his workers come by my house to work on the backyard in May this year. Eliminate weeds, regrade soil and replant grass seed. 158 feet worth of backyard which he estimated $1600 to do. There was a hiccup with his office and scheduling and he wasn't even aware of the set date in mid-May. He rescheduled for the week after and took off $100 for inconvenience. His crew shows up and does the job and weeks after, grass grew....but not fully in corners of the yard. I called him back, voicemail immediately. Got in touch with his office and they said they would pass the message. His response times are atrocious and I told him about the patches in the grass. He says "no problem I'll send guys to evaluate and re-seed". They show up and do the job again. By mid-July, weeds are growing in very strong and grass is dying at exceedingly high rate despite me watering. I called him back and he says "that's odd, I'll come by this afternoon or tomorrow" in September when I finally get a hold of him. He never shows up or responds to texts or further calls. The photos below are post-lawn work with visible patches and weeds. I had to spend additional monies on top soil, grass seed and water to correct the loss of 50% of the lawn!! If you want an overpriced job not done right, Phil is your guy!!

Philz Landscaping built 2 patios on my property. One is flagstone and the other is pavers with a retaining wall. Both are absolutely beautiful. Working with Phil and his team has been a great experience. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for reliability, quality, and reasonable pricing.
