Wood Fence Types Crum Lynne, Pennsylvania

In the quaint community of Crum Lynne, Pennsylvania, nestled in the heart of Delaware County, a unique style of fencing embellishes the landscapes of many homes: shadowbox fences. These structures are not just mere barriers but an aesthetic choice that merges functionality with artistic expression. Shadowbox fences offer both seclusion and a breezy elegance to properties they encircle.

The term "shadowbox" itself is derived from the fence's distinctive design, where boards are placed on either side of central rails in an alternating fashion. This configuration creates an effect similar to a shadow box used for displaying keepsakes—hence the name. However, unlike these display cases designed for interior decor, shadowbox fences serve as sturdy outdoor fortifications while still allowing light and air to filter through.

One might ponder why homeowners in Crum Lynne specifically favor this type of fencing. The answer lies partially within the region's climate and landscape features. Pennsylvania experiences all four seasons with their respective weather patterns, including gusty winds during storms or heavy snowfall in winter months. The semi-privacy offered by shadowbox fences provides shelter against these elements without completely obstructing views or natural ventilation.

Moreover, Crum Lynne residents value their privacy without sacrificing neighborliness. The clever construction of shadowbox fences maintains privacy when viewed straight on yet offers glimpses through the fence at an angle. This allows neighbors to remain connected visually while enjoying personal space—an amenable balance between openness and solitude.

In addition to practicality and neighborly considerations, there’s also an artistic dimension that makes shadowbox fences attractive to those living in Crum Lynne. Their symmetrical pattern gives off a rhythmical visual appeal that can complement various architectural styles—from traditional Colonial homes to more modern abodes—and coalesce seamlessly with diverse landscaping themes.

Furthermore, customization options abound; homeowners can choose from different materials (such as cedar or pressure-treated pine), stains, paints, and heights to tailor their fence according to individual tastes and needs. This versatility has undoubtedly contributed to shadowbox fencing’s popularity within this Pennsylvanian enclave.

Crum Lynne’s embrace of shadowbox fences illustrates how practical solutions can transform into communal aesthetics—a shared vision among homeowners for creating beautiful yet functional spaces around their residences. The harmony between private sanctuaries and inviting landscapes fosters a sense of community pride and signifies the thoughtful character defining this charming corner of Pennsylvania.

Angi provided me with several contractors, I received estimates but chose Philz Landscaping (even after coming in higher) because he satisfied with his estimate and start date our fervent desire to complete the project before winter set in. Alex, Javier set the example of professionalism in setting up the area to remove fencing and gate, installed vinyl fence with double gate (assisted by Carlos), removed all debris, left my yard spotless and we are extremely satisfied with the new fence and gate. Questions we had were answered (Helena, Phil) promptly and Alex, Javier went above and beyond ensuring my wife’s concerns were taken care of; I want again to Thank the team at Philz Landscaping and recommend highly to perform your project.

Had Phil and his workers come by my house to work on the backyard in May this year. Eliminate weeds, regrade soil and replant grass seed. 158 feet worth of backyard which he estimated $1600 to do. There was a hiccup with his office and scheduling and he wasn't even aware of the set date in mid-May. He rescheduled for the week after and took off $100 for inconvenience. His crew shows up and does the job and weeks after, grass grew....but not fully in corners of the yard. I called him back, voicemail immediately. Got in touch with his office and they said they would pass the message. His response times are atrocious and I told him about the patches in the grass. He says "no problem I'll send guys to evaluate and re-seed". They show up and do the job again. By mid-July, weeds are growing in very strong and grass is dying at exceedingly high rate despite me watering. I called him back and he says "that's odd, I'll come by this afternoon or tomorrow" in September when I finally get a hold of him. He never shows up or responds to texts or further calls. The photos below are post-lawn work with visible patches and weeds. I had to spend additional monies on top soil, grass seed and water to correct the loss of 50% of the lawn!! If you want an overpriced job not done right, Phil is your guy!!

Philz Landscaping built 2 patios on my property. One is flagstone and the other is pavers with a retaining wall. Both are absolutely beautiful. Working with Phil and his team has been a great experience. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for reliability, quality, and reasonable pricing.
